Sunflower & Santa

So, let me tell you. The madness has begun.

My mother does her Christmas shopping from September to November so that she has all of December for wrapping presents. I would just like to share what our guest bedroom looks like right now. Also you will notice I have added that slightly blurry warm contrasty effect to these pics because, ’tis the season for such things….

And the drafting table is slowly being consumed by gold ribbon.

Please note that I am not posting these images to critique my Mother’s mildly outrageous love of Christmas and sparkly things, as I, in fact, totally plan on giving into the madness in between other activities…

I’ve been doing a lot of watercolor paintings lately and I’m eager to share some.

I just finished this sunflower for my Aunt Rosemary’s birthday present. Her birthday was really in October, at which time I made a cute little certificate redeemable for one painting of any subject of her choice. My Aunt lives in Georgia and has a beauuutiful garden and meticulously landscaped abode, and she picked this flower to paint. I think it came out pretty well.

    Hi,
Wowwwww!!You really can do anything! I can’t wait to see this “in person”. And to think, I get to keep thie original ! Van Gogh, eat your heart out! This is special on so many levels. First, because it is a flower from my garden and I think all flowers are miracles from God. Secondly, Tom took this wonderful photo of it. And third, you generously offered to create a present for me inspired by the photo. What more could I ask for? Can’t wait to show this to Tom…..
    your second favorite admirer.
    Love,
    Aunt Rosemary

    Riva,
Absolutely love the sunflower—I can almost inhale the wonderous wafting scent. I am concerned, however, we don’t want anyone to lose an ear over it (That would be you) !
