November Update

Since I failed to post anyyyything on here last week I feel I must update you on my status as of late.

Last Friday was my Mama’s birthday. As a present, I did a pen and watercolor portrait of the two puppies cause I found a wicked cool red frame and had to fill it with something and give it to her. Anyways, this is how she looked on her birthday (am required by our unspoken mother/daughter agreement not to reveal age, hence the blurred out the candles):

1. With Rosie and chocolate cake. 2.Yes my mom is tearing up cause my present was that good.

Here is the doggie portrait:

On top of being an awesome daughter I’ve been planning out and starting to execute drawings in my Sketchbook Project sketchbook. Got my supplies ready.

I’ve been collecting images of animals and animal eyes in particular. Especially owls and big cats like the Pallas Cat and Ocelot. Animals that are graceful but also a little scary or intense looking. I roughly sketched out where I want all the lyrics to be in the book and am going through and filling it. A big portion in the center will be filled with the animal drawings. Excited.

P.S. Rosie says hi.

Very nice Riva! I like the way the doggie portrait is cropped and the tension between the tight representation of some elements and the freedom and variety of the strokes.
